LROC Team Members

The LROC Release (JMoon) is available to the members of the LROC mission planning and science teams for use in planning and analyzing observations made by the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter Camera (LROC) aboard the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter. In addition to the standard layers available in the Public Release, it includes the LROC ROI Layer, LROC Stamp Layer and the LROC Planning Layer. A public version of the LROC Release (JMoon) is available on the JMARS Download page.

  • Mission Planners
  • Plan both narrow-angle and wide-angle observations for the Lunnar Reconnaissance Orbiter Camera (LROC)
  • View "Regions of Interest" (ROIs) submitted by LROC team members
  • Locate previously acquired observations
  • Planetary Geologists
  • Simultaneously view datasets from past moon-orbiting instruments
  • Submit "Regions of Interest" (ROIs) over areas where you would like the mission planners to collect data
  • Locate previously acquired observations


[edit] JMARS System Requirements

The JMARS client is designed to be small, but it can accumulate a lot of data from the server with heavy use. The minimum recommended system requirements are:

  • Java Runtime 1.5 or later (required)
  • A 24 bit video sub-system (required)
  • DSL, Cable, T-1 or better network connection (128Kbps) (recommended)
  • 512MB of RAM (recommended)
  • Display capable of a resolution of 1024x768 (recommended)
