Students / Space Enthusiasts
From JMARS Wiki
The JMARS team has developed a version of JMARS specifically for use by students and space enthusiasts. The Public Version contains all of the standard JMARS layers (ie: Map Layer, Stamp Layer, etc) and pulls data from the servers at Arizona State University's Mars Space Flight Facility, which also supply data to the THEMIS, MRO and LROC versions of JMARS. Users must register for a free JMARS user account since the program requires access to the ASU servers.
The JMARS team has also released public versions of their JMoon and JEarth software, which allow users to access remote sensing data of the Moon and the Earth with a JMARS interface. For information on how to access JMoon or JEarth, please see the instructions at the bottom of this page.
[edit] What Can JMARS Do For Me?
- Students
- K-12 Students: Target a THEMIS image as part of the Mars Student Imaging Project.
- Undergraduate Students: Target and analyze THEMIS observations as part of your School of Earth and Space Exploration coursework.
- Graduate Students: Target, locate and analyze observations made by THEMIS and other Mars-orbiting instruments as part of your individual research projects.
- Space Enthusiasts
- Navigate across the surface of Mars and view data collected by multiple instruments.
- Locate specific observations made by various instruments for analysis outside of JMARS.
